Whenever I experience cystitis, I always turn to this method! Nature has always been a great healer, and in my battle with cystitis, herbal remedies have been my green allies.

I got married at the age of 27. Though I was not a young girl anymore and knew how to take care of myself, I still couldn’t avoid falling ill. Shortly after returning from our honeymoon, I began experiencing the unpleasant symptoms of bladder inflammation—pain, frequent urination, and a general feeling of discomfort.

Later, I learned that my condition was commonly referred to as “honeymoon cystitis” and was not caused by exposure to cold as I had initially thought. Fortunately, not long after, I became pregnant. While that was a joyful time, the recurring symptoms of cystitis quickly overshadowed my happiness.

I also learned that during the first trimester of pregnancy, it is advised to avoid most medications. So, I had no choice but to seek relief through herbal remedies. Luckily, I didn’t have to search for long. Traditional folk medicine offered numerous natural treatments for cystitis. Here, I will share only the remedies that I personally tried and found effective:

1. Rosehip Root Tea

  • Take 2 tablespoons of crushed rosehip root
  • Pour 2 cups of boiling water over it
  • Boil for 15 minutes
  • Let it sit for 2 hours, then strain
  • Drink ½ cup, 4 times a day before meals
  • Duration: 2 weeks

2. Parsley Tea (Pharsmanduki)

  • Take 2 tablespoons of parsley
  • Pour 1 cup of boiling water over it
  • Let it steep for 1 hour, then strain
  • Drink ¼ cup, 4 times a day before meals
  • Duration: 7–10 days

3. Horsetail and Chamomile Blend

  • Mix equal parts of horsetail and chamomile flowers
  • Take 1 tablespoon of the mix

5. Bearberry and Parsley Seed Mix

  • Mix 20g of parsley seeds and 30g of bearberry leaves
  • Take 1 tablespoon of the mix

6. Herbal Mix for Persistent Cystitis

  • Take 1 tablespoon of the blend
  • Pour 1 cup of cold water and let sit for 6 hours
  • Boil for 15 minutes on low heat, then strain
  • Drink in small portions throughout the day
  • Continue treatment until symptoms improve
  • If there’s no improvement in a few days, consult a doctor

7. Evening Herbal Tea

  • Mix 15g of horsetail with 20g of plantain leaves
  • Take 1 tablespoon of the mixture
  • Pour 2 cups of boiling water over it
  • Cover and let steep for 1 hour, then strain
  • Drink warm, 1 cup per day in the evening

Over time, I learned that cystitis—especially the kind caused by physical irritation or hormonal changes—can often be managed with the right natural support. These herbal recipes, passed down through generations, were not only effective but also gentle on my body, especially during pregnancy when I needed extra caution.

Of course, if symptoms persist, medical advice is essential. But for me, these “green friends” have made all the difference, helping me find comfort and healing without the need for pharmaceuticals.
