Excessive foot sweating is one of the most uncomfortable and frustrating problems many people face. Imagine having to deal with damp, sweaty feet and an unpleasant odor all year round – both in winter and summer. It’s not only embarrassing but also physically uncomfortable.
 
 
The main reason for this issue lies in the fact that the soles of our feet contain a high concentration of sweat glands. When bacteria on the skin feed on this sweat, they produce compounds that lead to bad odor. While we cannot eliminate the sweat glands themselves – they’re a natural and necessary part of our body – we can get rid of the smell and keep things under control. Fortunately, doing so is not difficult at all, especially if you follow a few simple recommendations from experts.
One of the easiest and most effective ways to manage this issue is frequent washing of your feet. It sounds simple, doesn’t it? But you’d be surprised how many people completely neglect their feet during daily hygiene routines. As we mentioned earlier, it’s crucial to wash your feet several times a day – and preferably with cold water, even during the winter months. Once your feet are clean and completely dry, dust them with a lightly scented foot powder or talcum powder. This helps absorb excess moisture, reduce friction, and protect the skin from irritation and damage. It’s a small habit that can make a big difference.
Now, let’s talk about a home remedy for foot sweating – one that truly worked for me and changed my life.
This issue had plagued me since my youth. It became especially unbearable during my time in the military, where long hours in heavy boots made everything worse. As a result of the constant sweating, I developed a fungal infection – something that often goes hand in hand with hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating). Fortunately, there’s a simple, inexpensive, and effective remedy that helped me get rid of both problems at once.
 
 
Here’s what I did:
- First, I washed my feet thoroughly and dried them completely.
- Then, I took a cotton swab and soaked it in either 3% or 5% iodine solution.
- I gently rubbed the iodine between my toes and over the surface of my feet – about 3–4 centimeters from the toes up toward the top of the foot.
- I repeated this procedure every evening.
To my surprise, after just three applications, my sweating problem disappeared – and it didn’t return for 1–2 years! It was that effective. This simple iodine treatment helped me eliminate both the odor and the discomfort. Since then, my quality of life has improved significantly, and I feel more confident in social and professional settings.
