There is a simple, natural remedy that has been passed down through generations in my family – a powerful healing ointment made from coniferous resin. My grandmother used to prepare this herself, and now I understand why she trusted it so much. This ointment is not only soothing but is also packed with medicinal properties that support the liver, purify the blood vessels, and relieve joint pain. Its benefits don’t end there – it’s also helpful in treating anemia, stomach and intestinal ulcers, hemorrhoids, psoriasis, and diseases related to the skin, cardiovascular system, and respiratory tract. It even has rejuvenating effects on the body.

This homemade salve is made from completely natural ingredients and has proven time and again to be effective for a wide range of conditions. The preparation process is simple and doesn’t require any special tools, just a little patience and care.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of butter
  • Natural beeswax – the size of 2 matchboxes
  • Conifer resin (pine, fir, cedar, or spruce) – the size of 2 matchboxes
  • 1 teaspoon of honey

Preparation Method:

The first step is to purify the butter. To do this, gently melt it in an enamel pot over low heat. Be careful not to let it boil. Once melted, skim off the foam that forms on top and strain the clarified butter into another clean container.

Next, take two matchbox-sized pieces of natural beeswax and the same amount of conifer resin. For the best results, freeze the resin beforehand to make it easier to crush into smaller pieces.

Now, in a clean pot, melt the clarified butter again over low heat. Add the crushed resin and stir gently with a non-metallic or stainless steel spoon or fork until the resin is completely dissolved.

After the resin has melted, add the finely chopped beeswax to the mixture and continue stirring until it’s fully dissolved. Be sure not to let the mixture boil – the temperature should not exceed 80°C (about 176°F).

Once everything is fully melted and combined, remove the pot from the heat and allow the mixture to cool slightly until it begins to thicken. At this point, add one teaspoon of natural honey and whisk the mixture well.

If your beeswax or resin isn’t completely pure (contains impurities), strain the hot mixture through a double-layered cheesecloth before it cools to remove any unwanted particles.

The final product should have a creamy consistency, a slightly bitter taste, and a strong, pleasant aroma of pine. Store the ointment in the refrigerator or even in the freezer – it keeps well for a long time.

How to Use:

For External Use:
Melt about one teaspoon of the ointment using steam (a water bath) and gently massage it into the affected areas. For joint pain, apply the warm ointment to the joints, cover the area with a cloth or wrap, and leave it overnight for maximum absorption and effect.

For Skin Conditions:
Apply a small amount of the ointment directly to the affected skin area and wrap it with a clean bandage. This method is especially effective for psoriasis and other inflammatory skin issues.

For Internal Use:
Take a piece of the frozen ointment about the size of a walnut, crush it into smaller bits, and swallow it with a glass of hot milk or water. This method supports internal healing processes, especially in the liver and digestive system.

For Colds and Respiratory Relief:
Rub the ointment onto the chest, back, or soles of the feet, and then keep the area warm. This method helps ease symptoms of colds and promotes faster recovery.

For Bronchitis or Persistent Cough:
Dissolve one teaspoon of the ointment into a glass of hot milk and drink this mixture three times a day. It soothes the throat, opens up the respiratory tract, and helps eliminate mucus.

This ointment is a true gift from nature. It combines the healing powers of beeswax, honey, butter, and resin – ingredients that have been used in traditional medicine for centuries. While it may seem like a simple home remedy, its effectiveness is truly remarkable.

My grandmother always said, “Nature gives us everything we need – we just have to know how to use it.” After using this ointment myself and sharing it with friends and family, I’ve seen how deeply it can heal and support the body, both inside and out.

Give this remedy a try, and you may find that you, too, no longer need synthetic treatments for common conditions. Sometimes, the best medicine really is homemade.
