Did you know that bedwetting (enuresis) in children can be treated with natural remedies such as blackberry and blueberry? This story from my own family is a testament to how effective traditional methods can be when everything else seems to fail.

My grandson was born prematurely. He spent the first several months of his life in an incubator, making up for the time he hadn’t spent in the womb. The day he was finally discharged from the hospital and brought home became a true celebration in our family. At last, we heard the joyful sound of a baby crying in our home — something we had longed for. In the beginning, there seemed to be nothing wrong. In fact, for a premature baby, he appeared relatively healthy, and we were grateful for that.

However, troubling signs began to appear when he turned four years old. He started wetting his pants again — not occasionally, but regularly — and without even noticing it was happening. It was more than just an accident here or there; it became a consistent issue that continued for quite some time. We did everything we could. We consulted doctors, tried various methods, and followed every professional recommendation. Eventually, we managed to solve the problem during the daytime. But unfortunately, the nighttime wetting persisted.

Things got even worse once he started school. Whether it was the stress of the new environment or fear of the teacher, we couldn’t say for sure. But suddenly, he began wetting himself during the day again. The worst part was the reaction of his classmates — they mocked him relentlessly. The bullying took a toll on him emotionally. Eventually, he refused to go back to school at all. We were desperate, confused, and deeply concerned. For a few days, we kept him home while we tried to figure out what to do.

When our neighbors learned about our situation, we were bombarded with advice and home remedies. Everyone had a different opinion — some practical, some outlandish — and we didn’t know whom to listen to. But then, one day, a cousin of my husband came to visit. She confided in me that her own son had suffered from the exact same problem. She also shared the remedy that had worked for them. Something about her calm confidence gave me hope, and I decided to follow her suggestion.

To our relief, her method worked — and quite quickly. Within a few days, there was a noticeable improvement. Soon after, my grandson not only stopped wetting himself during the day, but the nighttime episodes ceased as well. He was finally able to return to school with confidence, and our whole family breathed a collective sigh of relief.

Here is the simple yet effective remedy we used:

Take 1 tablespoon of finely chopped plantain leaves (Plantago major) and pour 1 cup of boiling water over them. Cover the container and let the mixture steep for 1 hour. After that, strain the liquid.

Dosage:
Give the child 1 tablespoon of the infusion 3–4 times a day, about 20 minutes before meals. Continue this treatment for at least two weeks, although you may begin to see results after just 4–5 days.

In addition, each night before going to bed, the child should take 1 teaspoon of honey. Honey helps strengthen the nervous system and supports fluid retention during sleep.

If you’re treating the condition in summer, you can also use fresh blackberries and blueberries. Take 1 tablespoon of each, place them in 500 ml of water, and boil for 5–10 minutes. Let the mixture sit, covered, for 30–40 minutes.

Give the child one glass of this mixture 3–4 times a day. As with the other remedy, the treatment should continue for at least two weeks, but extending it beyond that will only improve the outcome.

This simple folk remedy brought peace back to our household. If your child is struggling with bedwetting and nothing else has helped, this might just be the natural solution you’ve been looking for.
