You probably don’t need an explanation of what rheumatism is. It’s an unbearable disease, especially for older people. In my family, everyone suffers from rheumatism. Even my youngest son, who isn’t even 40 yet.
So, we try to manage the pain with whatever we can, and I must say, we’ve been quite successful, which is why I am very grateful to the garden at our country house. For several years, my husband and I tried one medicine after another. We went through every anti-rheumatic treatment available, always groaning and sighing, but nothing really worked. Eventually, we gave up on modern medicines.
To find a new remedy, we began to look through old books, and finally, at last, we discovered something very effective. Many people don’t know that rubbing painful joints with a mixture of comfrey juice, vodka, and honey can bring relief.
Here is how to prepare this mixture:
Take one and a half cups of comfrey juice and add to it
1 cup of honey,
half a cup of vodka,
and 1 tablespoon of coarse salt.
Mix everything thoroughly until you get a uniform consistency. This mixture should be rubbed into the painful joints twice a day.
Another remedy that brings no less relief is comfrey root juice:
Chop the comfrey root finely,
take 1 tablespoon of it,
pour 1 cup of boiling water over it,
and cover it well.
Let it steep for 4 hours, then strain it. Take 2 tablespoons of this infusion 3-4 times a day, half an hour before meals. You can also prepare this infusion with cold water, but in that case, drink a quarter cup three times a day before eating.
I can also recommend an old German folk remedy that is very easy to prepare:
In 1 liter of water, put 20 grams of crushed dried bean pods,
and simmer on very low heat for 2-3 hours.
Let it cool, strain it, and take half a cup 4-5 times a day. You will feel great relief, believe me.
Additionally, take 3-4 teaspoons of crushed red currant leaves,
pour 2 cups of boiling water over them,
and simmer for 15 minutes in a covered vessel placed over boiling water (a double boiler method).
Then let it steep for 45 minutes and cool to room temperature. Finally, strain through a four-layer cheesecloth. Drink a quarter cup 3-4 times a day before meals. This infusion is also helpful for gastritis (low acidity), diarrhea, and cystitis.
I wish you good health!
